Robotic Glass Installation at a National Museum

Robotic Glass Installation at a National Museum vacuum lifter installation

The Challenge

A national museum needed to install large architectural glass partitions and display panels inside heritage galleries. Access was tight, the floors and surrounding artwork were fragile, and the panels were too heavy and awkward to place safely by hand.

The Solution

Quattrolifts robotic vacuum lifters moved each glass panel from the loading area into the galleries and set it with millimetre control. The compact, battery powered machines crossed finished floors without marking them and reached up into framed openings that a forklift could never enter.

The Result

The fit-out went in faster and with fewer hands on the glass. Every panel was placed precisely, the heritage finishes stayed intact, and the crew worked without the strain and risk of lifting glass manually.

Museum projects leave no room for error. The glass is large, the surroundings are irreplaceable, and the access routes are rarely built for heavy equipment. For this installation, the crew needed to carry and place sizeable glass partitions and display panels through galleries filled with finished surfaces and artwork.

Quattrolifts vacuum lifters did the heavy work. The machines picked up each panel with a vacuum suction frame, carried it through the building, and positioned it into place under fine control from one or two operators. Because the lifters are self-propelled and battery powered, they moved across the gallery floors without trailing cables or marking the surface.

The result was a calm, controlled install. Panels went in square the first time, the museum's heritage finishes were protected, and the crew avoided the strain and danger of manual glass handling. It is a clear example of why galleries, glaziers and fit-out contractors reach for vacuum lifters when the glass is big and the setting is sensitive.
